NEW YORK —
Furniture designer Charles Pollock, who created a chair that became ubiquitous in the mid-term office
20 th century, still in production, died in a fire in his home on Tuesday.
Police say the 83-year-old Pollock was pronounced dead at his home in Queens and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Pollock grew up in Detroit and graduated from high school.
He moved to New York to study at Pratt Institute of Art and Design.
He introduced his executive chairman of Pollock to Noel on 1963.
The chair sitting on the rolling wheels is visually distinctive, with aluminum bands with tufted trim and edges.
In 1965, Noel began making chairs and continued until today.
At that time, the production of the chair was far more than that of any other work, Noel.
The spokesman said.
But in the decades after this achievement, Pollock has largely left the furniture design.
He\'s back recently.
After being looked for by Jerry Helling of Bernhardt Design, Pollock created a recliner that was launched last year. NEW YORK —
